Katrina Jayne Dimaranan is changing the world!

Katrina Jayne Dimaranan is a Filipino-American model, actress, television personality, and beauty pageant titleholder who was appointed as Miss Supranational USA 2018. She represented the United States at the Miss Supranational 2018 pageant and finished 1st Runner-Up. Katrina is currently on her way to, in my opinion, reign as Miss Universe 2021! We’ve shot together a few times from Billboards to Magazines but even with a WILD schedule she was able to sit down with me for a bit in my first interview for my blog!

Q: You’ve had a crazy month, what’s a day in the life of Katrina right now?

A:  Oh man, crazy is an understatement! I only had ONE month to really prepare, pack up, come back home to my country the Philippines, and train, lose weight, etc. I wake up, catch up on any plans with my team, call my boyfriend and family, then while I eat breakfast write in my prayer journal, workout, and begin whatever is in my schedule for the day (trainings, photoshoots, etc). I come home exhausted but still excited for this whole journey to the Miss Universe Philippines crown!

Q: Let’s backtrack, tell us about little Katrina, how you’ve changed and what stayed the same?

A: I have changed because as you get older and experience more things, like loss, or new adventures, jobs, or even new hobbies, you change your view on life, and for me I became more confident in who I am as Katrina and who I strive to be as far as bettering myself everyday. What stayed the same well I am still the super bubbly, funny, down to earth and resilient woman I have been since I was a kid. I also to this day still love coffee ice cream and playing pranks on my friends and family!

Q: From Pageants to Reality Television like CBS’s Love Island what motivates and drives you to compete?

A: Plain and simple, my FAMILY.

Q: When you were crowned as the youngest winner for Binibining Pilipinas Tourism what kind of validation did that provide?

A: It made me feel as if I just inspired a bunch of young girls and boys to chase their dreams no matter what it is, as long as you work hard and stay humble and kind.

Q: We’ve shot a couple times from the Billboard of Pinay Magazine to our latest beauty editorial in Vigour. What’s your favorite thing to eat after a long shoot day?

A: I always enjoy our shoots! Although you know how I am, I don’t eat until AFTER the shoot so I go for a big delicious meal because in my head I think “I deserve this! And, it’s my only meal of the day! Haha!” Burgers, pasta, all you can eat bbq, Wingstop, you name it.

Q: Speaking of food, after our first shoot you and your bestie Nico introduced me to some amazing Filipino food. I get the feeling family, values and heritage are very important to you?

A: YES! Filipino families are usually very tight knit and so we grow up with the morals of respecting each other, taking care of one another, and making sure our family is always okay. I love being Filipina and the culture we are immersed in from respecting our elders by taking their hand and putting it to your forehead, to our many different dialects in the Philippines, to even the way we celebrate our holidays! Family, values and heritage are who you are as a person! (Well for me hehe)

Q: What was something you were taught that gave you the confidence and strength to do what you do today?

A: It was more because of how resilient my family has always been during our harder times and adversities that showed me, I am still capable to get out of those situations and do better for myself. From there the confidence just remained and was instilled in me up until this day. You have to believe in yourself even if others won’t.

Q: If you choose in the future to have children what’s something you would instill in them?

A: First, my Tagalog language, they WILL know how to speak fluent Tagalog haha. Also, all the values and morals and traditions that I grew up with as well, being a Filipina.

Q: Let’s talk beauty - what’s your routine to keep your skin so fresh?

A: I use Olivia Quido Skincare products! THE BEST! Everyday I use a facial wash, vitamin C serum, moisturizer and SUNBLOCK! Even indoors it is so important to use sunblock! I also try to drink a lot of water to keep my skin hydrated! Shout out Ms. O and O Skin Care!

Q: You’re out here inspiring young women everywhere to go after their dreams, who’s inspiring you?

A: I find inspiration in so many people and public figures but most of all I find inspiration in my family and those who have risen above their obstacles and triumphs (I love watching TED Talks hehe)

Q: In five years, what vacation are you taking, who are you bringing and what is in your bag?

A: Hopefully by then I’d have a ring on my finger *hint hint* and travel to South Africa, my number 1 travel wishlist! Or somewhere tropical with my family and boyfriend or maybe husband who knows!

Q: Now that you’re competing with Miss Universe Philippines, what is a cause you want to bring awareness to?

A: HOMELESSNESS. Having experienced this myself, I want to do more about it. I have always volunteered with organizations or donated but if I win I would love to use my title to really push my campaign and start making tangible solutions to alleviate homelessness.

Q: My final question, the one I ask everyone… who’s the last person you called?

A: *Checks phone* Cyrille Sexon! She is my current assistant who helps with so many of what needs to be done but is also such a great friend like she’s just one of my girlfriends I can speak freely to and talk about anything and everything BUT she is AMAZING at what she does. Haha so shout out Cyrille!
